Heat Pumps

Eligible for 40K Interest-Free Canada Greener Homes Loan and CleanBC Better Homes Renovation Rebate Program

CleanBC Rebates may include funding from BC Hydro + FortisBC.

Heat pumps both heat and cool your home.  A modern heat pump can turn 1 GJ of purchased input energy into up to 3 GJ of energy output. In contrast a baseboard heater gives 1 GJ output for 1 GJ input but does not distribute the heat well. A fossil fuel combustion furnace gives only 0.6 to 0.95 GJ output per 1 GJ of energy purchased. Heat pumps must be sized accurately for each home to be efficient and minimize energy consumption.

Windows & Doors

Eligible for 40K Interest-Free Canada Greener Homes Loan

Good triple pane windows reduce heat loss in winter, heat gain in summer, and reduce noise transmission. Windows are rated with U-values (the rate of heat loss), in contrast with insulation R-values (the resistance to heat loss). Lower U-values are better in contrast with R values (higher is better) used for wall insulation. Look for Energy Star ratings on windows too.

We called Ross from ARG Energy Advisor to come do an energy audit on our home. He called us back right away, came to our home within a couple of days. He’s very punctual and thorough. Throughout the renovation process he’s also been very helpful answering all our questions and guiding us in the right direction. We would definitely recommend Ross!

Ross is extremely knowledgeable and detail oriented. He was thorough in conducting the energy analysis for our home. His report provided a lot of useful information on how we can reduce our energy consumption and increase the efficiency of energy usage. Even if you aren't pursuing any available improvement plans (e.g. interest-free loans), you would be well advised to invest in ARG Energy's analysis.
